Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Minahan is the Chief Executive Officer, a Member of the Board of Directors, and he is the vision for Innovative Health Labs (IHL) as its Founder. He is the person primarily responsible for the incubation and creation IHL. Daniel has a diverse business background that started in the late 1980’s with hospitality management, and then changed to financial related business experience including currency trading, mortgage origination office, insurance sales, capital markets with a FINRA Series 7 license, real estate development, and working with publicly traded companies to provide public relations services, bring investor attention to companies, and assist with structuring, valuations, liquidity events. While providing these services, Daniel interacted with attorneys, accountants, and other consultants on behalf of his client companies. In addition, Daniel has been a principal investor in several companies, including providing all the initial investment capital for the Company. Daniel is astute in internet marketing in business-to-business models and also business- to-consumers. He has the ability to adapt and quickly adjust to changing conditions or markets to avoid possible complications, and conversely, has the foresight and ability to seize opportunities or create new opportunities where normal deals would fail or be overlooked. Through innovation and creativity, Daniel has brought several products to market and also assisted other companies in doing the same. Daniel believed that science, true efficacy, patent protection and testing for quality and safety would be the key drivers for IHL’s success. In his vision, all products created would be by the best scientists and chemists in their fields, and products would be made at the best manufacturing facilities with top certifications. Daniel will remain committed to his original vision of science, efficacy, quality and patent protection.
James Morrell (Jim)
Mr. Morrell is the President and a Member of the Board of Directors and as a Founder, is responsible for the incubation and creation IHL. Jim is active in IHL in the areas of operations, logistics, marketing, technology, contract negotiations, and wherever the Company requires assistance. He has a thorough understanding of the product, the marketplace, the regulatory environment and requirements, manufacturing, supply chains, and distribution. Jim has over 25 years of business, financial, and investment experience having started his financial career with E.F. Hutton in 1984 as a Vice President of capital markets. He continued his financial and investment banking career from August 1987 through December 1999, holding senior executive positions with a number of investment banking firms including Senior Vice President at Paine Webber, Senior Vice President of Raymond James Securities, and Executive Vice President of Meridian Capital Markets, a division of Meridian Bank which was acquired by CoreStates National Bank, and subsequently acquired by First Union/Wachovia Bank. Concurrently with his position at IHL, he is CEO and Chairman of Nexera Medical, Inc., a medical device developer and manufacturer. He was also CEO of XFC, a mixed martial arts promotion, up to the time when Jim assisted in the merger of XFC with an international operation in the mixed martial arts industry, where the XFC brand survived, and also stays on as advisor and Board Member. He also previously served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Foss Manufacturing, LLC, a specialty textile manufacturer, and is also a former Board Member of World Travel Holdings, LLC, a holding company of several operating travel companies and online travel brands that have consolidated travel bookings in excess of one billion in revenue annually. Jim proudly serves on the Finance Committee of the City of Coral Springs, Florida, the only municipality to earn the Malcome Baldridge Award for Excellence, and one of the few municipalities in the Nation with AAA credit ratings on its municipal borrowings.
Dr. Mark McCarty is an integral part of IHL’s research and development team and is also instrumental in co-authoring IHL’s patent applications. Mark’s background is diverse and distinguished. He spent three years at UC San Diego School of Medicine before leaving to pursue a career in applied nutrition taking a job as Research Director with Nutrition 21. During 20 years of affiliation with this company, he played a key role in the development and clinical testing of organic supplemental selenium, as well as chromium picolinate. Mark published scores of articles on a wide range of biomedical topics in the medical literature, most of them appearing in the journal, Medical Hypotheses. He is currently serving as a consultant to The Phoenician Research Foundation, Pantox Laboratories and to several companies in the nutritional supplements industry, and is President of NutriGuard Research, of which he was a cofounder. He is the author of over 250 articles in the Medline-cited biomedical literature. He has been awarded 7 U.S. patents (composition of matter and/or use) for a variety of applied nutritional measures. Working with Dr. Babak Bahadori and John Gustin, he has developed a “mini-fast with exercise” strategy for fat loss that has demonstrated good efficacy in clinical practice and in a recent published clinical trial. He is also working with Jeremy J. Stone to assess and promulgate the carbohydrate-concentrated diet concept as an aid for leanness and longevity, and serves on the editorial board of Journal of Medicinal Food. Mark commenced his medical education by enrolling at UC San Diego School of Medicine as a Regents Scholar where he earned his undergraduate education in biochemistry, Revelle College, graduating magna cum laude. He is also co-founder of a mail-order nutritional supplements company, NutriGuard Research, for which he has developed the product line. He continues to author numerous technical publications.
John Gustin has organized scientific advisory boards consisting of Nobel Laureates in Medicine and physiology with affiliations to Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research, the National Institute of Mental Health, Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospitals. He has numerous inventions and publications on the subjects of immunology, diabetes, obesity and sports nutrition. He was responsible for introducing garcinia cambogia (now the number 1 selling dietary supplement) into the US marketplace as a nutritional supplement and helped to conduct the first human clinical studies on garcinia along with the President of the American Society of Bariatricians. His responsibilities include research and development of product concepts and formulations. John’s Foundation owns the intellectual property on patents for health related and wellbeing products in the US and 9 other countries around the world.
Michael McCarthy, Ph.D.
Dr. McCarthy is a biochemist with long-term interests in health and wellness research always seeking out and promoting the best ideas to help people achieve exceptional health and wellbeing.Mike is a published book author and has multiple publications in scientific literature.He has also worked in intellectual property as a patent agent at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.His responsibilities include research and development of product concepts and formulations.He is also the primary author for any of IHL’s patent applications.He received a B.A. with majors in Biology and Physics from Benedictine College, Atchison, KS.He attended The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine program in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology as a graduate student and completed his studies at Vanderbilt University where he received a Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry.He did Post-Doctoral Studies in Endocrinology at Vanderbilt University where is studied the role of the macrophages in heart disease.
