The tone of this section is hopeful. Despite the fact that this excursion is now taking him longer than he at first expected, his remark that he's really two hours nearer to the fortune shows his uplifting perspective.
Any response that causes it to appear to be like the kid is cynical or it is inappropriate to lamenting his choice.
